Scrap’s the lightweight champion for the gym. Jackie’s new to the gym, and on the threshold between lightweight and middleweight here. She’d be more inclined to challenge Tara—but Rose prevailed upon her to go for Scrap’s title first. Scrap, of course, can’t wait to take on Jackie, thinking “Fresh blood,” since she’s thrashed everyone about her own size that she’s run into.
This is, of course, a set-up. Scrap’s getting overconfident since she knocked out Felicity, and insisting that she’s ready for professional fighting. Rose and Tara both think otherwise—and this is how they intend to convince her. Scrap’s a brawler by choice—so is Jackie. Someone’s getting KO’d or TKO’d…Rose and Jackie are very confident that Scrap’s going to be the one…
Tara has, in fact, told Jackie this—and that she hopes Jackie can knock her out decisively-but not so quickly that Scrap is likely to feel that it was a lucky punch. “Make sure you give her a darned good shiner, if you can, and a nice bloody nose.”
Jackie smiled, saying, “Whatever it takes to convince someone she’s needing to wait…”
Of course, just because the big plan is for Scrap to be beat thoroughly, doesn’t stop Scrap from having incompatible plans of her own—and the confidence of youth.
The fun is scheduled for 10 3 minute rounds with 8 ounce pro fight gloves, no three knockdown rule, standing 8 counts are in force.
